“Anish Kapoor’s work is based on the conjunction of opposite poles, creating a perpetual dialogue within elements and forces, matter and abstract, negative and positive, transition and eternity… it reflects us, deforming and challenging the rules of reality”.

Noor Exhibition Light Upon Light, a major retrospective on light, which analysed the main light artists of the 60s and 80s as well as recent developments from Saudi pioneers.

An art film that emotionally explores Anish Kapoor’s creative universe and his relation to art in the context of his shocking exhibition at the MACRO Museum in Rome, this is a vertiginous quest into existence, confronting the conditions of matter, the dynamics of perception and the power of ritual.

Among discussion of material, colour, psychology and the role of the viewer, Kapoor delves into the genesis behind his work: “It starts with an idea about skin. The skin defines the touch of the object to the rest of the world – to the so-called outside. Everything else is interior.” This film mixes an experimental approach to the traditional artist interview and presents a new director’s cut excerpted from the original, also unreleased film, which includes footage of Kapoor’s studio in preparation for a major show at the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma (MACRO) in Rome in 2016.
