The 4th AlUla Artist Residency brought together Qamar Abdul Malik, Hashel El Lamki, and curator Maryam Bilal for a month-long exploration of AlUla from an anthropological perspective.

Supported by The Royal Commission of AlUla, the residency facilitated artistic dialogue and collaboration, with access to resources and research plans. Guided tours, followed by research on cultural conservation, Gulf development, and futurism, and workshops enriched the experience. The residency culminated in an open studio event, showcasing research findings, ongoing projects, and written texts, engaging the AlUla community and stakeholders. Overall, the residency offered exploration, learning, and creative exchange, providing insights into the region’s past, present, and future.
